The Coati Quilt is a traditional quilt style sleep system with draft skirt. The draft skirt is a 8″ wide skirt that drops down from the sides of the quilt to block drafts and allow the sleeper to control the edges in an ultralight feature that adds very little weight. If it is left hanging down it blocks drafts from sneaking in. If the user tucks each side of the skirt under their body it can be used to control the edges and keep them where you want without any drafts entering. It can even function similarly to a false bottom, albeit manually positioned, but with the option of opening up for venting. The skirt also has a channel on the edge which a shock cord can be run through to achieve edge tension. The listed quilt widths are for the insulated area only and the draft skirt width is added to it.
It has horizontal baffles, a differential cut, a puffy draft collar, and super dense chambers 160% overstuffed with Hyperdry 900 fill power down. The top is connected with two snaps and cinched with a shock cord. It is important with any sleep system that it is paired with a sleeping pad rated to similar temperatures. It is especially important with quilts and false bottom bags and it should be noted that pads that utilize empty spaces are generally not suitable for these types of sleep systems.
This should be used with a Waterbear Balaclava or it can be used with other types of head insulation. https://timmermade.com/product-category/sleep-systems/balaclavas/
This can be paired with an overbag to manage moisture and boost it’s temperature rating. https://timmermade.com/product-category/sleep-systems/overbags/
See the “Technology” section on this site for information about this system’s features.

Just received a Coati 40 degree from Dan this past week while I was on my 4th section of the Ozark Highlands Trail. I own a 20 and 35 degree Zpacks quilts and given the temps for my last 2 sections I used my 20 degree.. it snowed half a day on my 2nd day and temp in morning was 22 degree. I use a X-therm 6.9 R value and a z lite pad as well for the cold temps and I was perfectly fine and comfortable. Now having said that when I got home I did a 10 min test in each of the quilts on a Nemo Tensor in my living room and by far the warmest quilt was the Coati.. mind you a 40 degree quilt!! But you can the loft is unreal for that temp rating for me at least … I would advise anyone to check out Dans selections of sleep gear…. You won’t regret it !!
