This favors all-in-one convenience vs the modularity of the Alpha Hoodie and shell jacket combination. It is available in multiple Alpha Direct weights and multiple outer shell options. AD60, 90, and 120 provide different insulation levels. Argon 67, Argon 90, and Hyper D provide different breathability levels for the outer shell. A67 has a cfm of around 50. A90 has a cfm of around 40. Hyper D has a very high breathability of around 80-100cfm. These choices allow you to cater the garment to your needs. Hyper D would be a great choice for active use as it allows heat and moisture to escape. There is an obvious trade off with more active comfort comes less windproofness for when you want to stay warm on a windy ridgeline or whatever. One of the Argon choices would fare better here but would feel more stuffy when active. The Hyper D version might need a windproof rain jacket over top for when you’re in high wind and not moving as hard.
